This is a stunning work by Rubens that works perfectly as a pocket square and a real star of our Rubens collection. It tells the story of the abduction of Ganymede, a shepherd and the son of Tros, a legendary king of Troy. According to Ovid, the god Jupiter was amazed by Ganymede’s beauty and so, having transformed himself into an eagle, carried the youth off to Olympus where he made him his cup-bearer.
The striking colours of this image allow it to provide a subtle burst of colour in the pocket while complimenting both navy and grey jackets.
